Profile: These Reigning Days

Epic anthemic pop/rock, gets stuck in your head sometimes, and probably keeps lighter manufactures in business nowadays. Devon's These Reigning Days seem to have the genre down to a tee, and with a debut LP on the cards shortly, it's more than likely that they will be popping up on the 'new music' radar increasingly as 2012 progresses.

Fronted by ex-Quails lead singer/songwriter Dan Steer, backed with Joe Sansome (drums) and Jonny Finnis (bass), TRD are fast establishing a reputation as an impressive live band playing grown up indie rock layered with synths, keys, guitar, drums and harmonies. 2011 saw fantastic a boost for the newly-assembled band with support slots for both Metronony and John Otway, this even before the release of any readily available material.

Come February of this year and the band's first true release came in the form of Changes; a single put out via iTunes, backed with three diverse dance remixes and a slickly produced video.

As mentioned, TRD have a full debut album release planned for the summer - currently the LP is being worked on with the aid of producer Yoad Nevo who has made his trade working with the likes of Bryan Adams, Girls Aloud, Sugababes, Dave Gahan, Pet Shop Boys and a host of other big name acts. Expect then a finely polished offering with great sensibilities on the pop/hook front, but with a decided rockier edge. Having had a sneak listen to some of the tracks I think it can be safely said that bands such as White Lies are due shortly for some new competition.

Between being out on the road and in the studio, These Reigning Days have taken time this week to release a second track from the upcoming album - entitled Living It Up. The song perhaps shows more the energy and wider sound (compared to Changes) that TRD make their signature sound. It sounds bigger, and more anthemic than the initial release. Monday (16th) saw the video appear on YouTube - again, wonderfully produced, and a physical release is scheduled for May 20th.

These Reigning Days have just been selected as one of 20 out of thousands to showcase at 'Musexpo' international music, media & technology conference in Los Angeles this May, to play in front of some of the most influential people in the music industry. This can only help to propel the band upwards and onwards - so watch this space.
