Pioneering American singer / songwriter Suzanne Vega returns to the UK in June of this year for five dates as part of a larger European tour, with her gentle, yet powerfully political acoustic pop.
With songs such as Marlene on the Wall, Blood Makes Noise, the Grammy nominated/MTV-Award winning Luka, and the hugely successful album Solitude Standing, she came to be regarded as the vanguard of a new generation of female singer/songwriters such as KT Tunstell, Tracey Chapman, and Alanis Morissette.
Her career received an extra boost in the early 90's when UK-based dance duo DNA released a remix of a cappella song Tom's Diner, which charted worldwide, and spawned the superb Tom's Album consisting of covers of the track.
Across 2010 and 2011, Suzanne released an exclusive collection, consisting of three 'best of' albums- Close-Up, with the most recent- Volume 3 'States of Being', released in the summer of 2011. The series of albums explores her whole catalogue of work- the basis for which is the main inspiration for this tour. A Fourth Volume follows in May 2012.
