Profile: Red Kites

Red Kites - Moteh, Ben, Liam and Andy - formed in 2010 at The Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford with a shared love of Folk and Rock music, and are now gigging around the UK in support of their debut EP, Beat In Time.

Founding member, Moteh Parrott, is the main songwriter in the band, with Liam’s distinctive guitar playing, Ben’s ear for satisfying bass-line harmony, Andy’s powerhouse drumming and Moteh’s heart-felt songwriting leading to a sound that is both original, yet harnesses their combined musical influences.

Beat In Time was released in April of this year, and according to the band, the vision for the album was clear; "to write exciting, honest music" with a "D.I.Y approach."

You can watch an acoustic session of the boys in action, below. They've got a great little set up going on, and it's clear here, how skilled they all are.

Beat In Time:

Having already successfully completed two Scottish tours (lead singer, Moteh, hails from the Highlands), their live shows have received rave reviews with their explosive and emotive style winning audiences up and down the UK.

Red Kites' music is interesting enough to steer them away from that, often stale, samey reputation of bands formed at music colleges and with an impressive string of original material already under their belts, they're on the right path. Also, watch out for their first music video for the single, Hold Fast, available this Sunday (1st July).

Why not catch Red Kites at some of their upcoming shows:

  • 1st July - The Ivory, Hitchin, UK
  • 7th July - The Queens Head, Farnham, UK
  • 3rd August - Belladrum Festival, Inverness, UK
