On The Radar 10/04/12

Tuesday's weekly selection of new tracks comprising this week's 'Staff Picks' from the Gigseen TV office ... New music featured from Shearwater, PINS, Lemonade, and Vadoinmessico.

Shearwater - Animal Life (selected by Neil) - From new 2012 album Animal Joy ... and their first for the Sub Pop label! Thunderbolt rock 'n' blazingly baroque pop from the Texas trio led by former Okkervil River guitarist Jonathan Meiburg. Album opener Animal Life shows off a more folky side to the band.

PINS - Eleventh Hour (selected by Kate) - Mancunian, PINS are an all-female four-piece who make noisy, textured pop, mixing their stated influences of Hole, Jesus and Mary Chain and Beach House into a thrilling brew. Even though the songs are noisy, there does seem to be a pop ‘sensibility’ within each of them. PINS are singer/guitarist Faith Holgate, bassist Anna Donigan, drummer Lara Williams and guitarist Lois McDonald, and have only been together as this lineup since last summer.

The single 11th Hour / Shoot You is out now via House Of PINS.

Lemonade - Neptune (selected by Matt) - A trio of self-professed record geeks living in Brooklyn by way of San Francisco, Lemonade fuse post-punk and Hi-NRG in their souped-up dance revival. Neptune comes from the bands second album Diver, due to be released at the end of May.

Vadoinmessico - Archaeology of the Future (selected by Grim) - Spotted last Friday supporting Drugstore at The Lexington, Vadoinmessico are a 5 piece band from several corners of the Earth residing in London and playing beautiful, nostalgic psychedelic freak-folk. Archaeology of the Future is the title track from the band's recently released debut LP.
