Cyndi Lauper To Release Autobiography

Cyndi Lauper will be releasing her autobiography later this year.

The US pop star is set to release her self-titled book this autumn via Atria Books. The memoir is said to cover her whole life, from her childhood through to finding fame in the 1980s with her hit singles Girls Just Want to Have Fun and Time After Time, as well as documenting the "ups and downs" of her career and private life. Speaking about the book, Lauper said: "Sometimes I come off good, sometimes not so good."

Born in New York in 1953, Lauper performed with a rockabilly band called Blue Angel before she released her smash hit debut solo album, She's So Unusual, in 1983. She later received an award for Best New Artist at the Grammy Awards and followed her multi-million selling first record with 1986's True Colors. Her latest album, Memphis Blues, was released in 2010.
