Profile: Bastions

With So much recent news regarding Glastonbury and all the big name artists, I wanted to write a blog-post on some of the lesser-known bands who, in my opinion, should be shouted about, because let's face it - they work just as hard as the rest!

So, I'd like to introduce you to Bastions; a four-piece from Anglesey in North Wales who deal in a brand of hardcore that ties together the passion and brutality of bands like The Chariot, Converge and Dillinger Escape Plan. Although still relatively new the band have already self released three EPs, recorded three BBC Radio Sessions (including a Radio 1 Introducing session for Bethan Elfyn and Huw Stephens) and been featured on the prestigious Holy Roar Xmas Tape.

Their relentless touring has made them somewhat an established name in the underground hardcore scene, and recognition from sources such as Rock Sound Magazine have called the band Vicious, squalling hardcore of the highest order. Lets not forget Alter The Press' high praise of them: For British hardcore fans and new listeners alike, the UK may have found their new favourite hardcore band. They certainly seem like something not to be missed.

So check out their title track from the new album, Island Living. An aggressive, high energy track with a heavy, drone-like breakdown and vicious vocals that literally make you Grit Your Teeth with rage. Perfect Tuesday afternoon listening!

They are currently on tour around the UK, so if you can make one of the dates, I guarantee that a show by them is definitely an experience. I hope you like noise!
