Looking forward to a bit of Rufus...

One of the most interesting musicians and performers of our times is finally getting the recognition he deserves. After years of being a closely guarded secret by those of us that didn't want success to ruin his artistic charm, he's managed to go and become a household name but still enjoy his own creative control and career management. And if you don't know much about him, then buy his albums, Want Two and Release The Stars are my personal favourites and a good start into appreciating this disturbingly creative Canadian.

I'll be honest, I can't wait to see him again as Rufus Wainwright will soon be performing Five Nights of Velvet, Glamour and Guilt. He's the first solo artist to take up residency in the Royal Opera House this is going to hopefully be an amazing set of concerts (can you tell I am a fan, I am not unbiased at all!)

Rufus will take over the Royal Opera House with special guest appearances by his sister Martha, his father Loudon and opera singer Janis Kelly, with the Britten Sinfonia conducted by Stephen Oremus.

Tickets go on sale on Tuesday 23 November from 9am.

18 July: Rufus Does Judy! With Britten Sinfonia conducted by Stephen Oremus

19 July: An Evening with Rufus and Martha Wainwright and band

21 July: An Evening with Rufus and Loudon Wainwright III and band

22 July: Rufus Does Judy! With Britten Sinfonia conducted by Stephen Oremus

23 July: Concert Version of Prima Donna with Janis Kelly, plus Rufus Does Rufus with Britten Sinfonia conducted by Stephen Oremus

Not convinced? Well if this doesn't grab you then you must be a cold blooded, heartless or just more interested in X-Factor than music.
