Supermarket giant Sainsburys is planning to give industry giant Apple iTunes a run for its money as it launches a music download service through its website.
Through its online store, the supermarket will offer access to over 2.3 million downloads - singles and albums - and have promised price promotions for their 'Deal Of The Week' albums. They will also be giving customers Nectar points for downloading tracks from their site.
Mark Bennett, Head Of Online Entertainment at the supermarket has commented on the recent development:
"This launch of our new MP3 music service enables our customers across the UK to get digital music at great value. This is the first step in our expansion to offer digital entertainment alongside our existing range of CDs, Games, Film and books catalogue."
Peter Selby, the Music Manager for Sainsburys added:
"'Downloading Made Easy' is central to our music offering and we have ensured that the process is as simple as possible for all our customers, who can be safe in the knowledge that all their favourite music will be will be available at the touch of a button."
